Abstract

1492831 Naphthalate polyesters TEIJIN Ltd 27 Jan 1975 [25 Jan 1974] 3461/75 Heading C3R A polyester having a reduced viscosity of at least 0À5 is derived from an acid component comprising at least 50 mole per cent of a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, an aromatic diol component comprising at least 50 mole per cent of a sulphone of the formula in which n is 2-6 and an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol containing 2-12 carbon atoms. The examples describe polyesters derived from dimethyl naphthalene-2,6- or -2,7-dicarboxylate, optionally with dimethyl terephthalate, 4,4<SP>1</SP>-bis-(#-hydroxyethoxy) diphenylsulphone and ethylene glycol or neopentyl glycol.
