Abstract

149,257. Schurmann, C. May 20, 1914, [Convention date]. Calendering and pressing.-In a machine for calendering paper, fabrics, and similar substances, the winding-on roll R<2> rests on friction drums i<1>, i<2> driven by a belt g from one of the frictiondriven calender rolls b. The drums i<1>, i<2> may be connected by a belt passing over conical pulleys m, n so that the speed may be adjusted to give the drum i<2> a greater peripheral speed than the drum i<1>. The delivery drum R<1> is also controlled by one or more brake drums h. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the calender rolls are mounted in closed bush bearings supported in the middle by a web provided in the bearing housing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
