Abstract

1492488 Embrittling scrap tyres MESSER GRIESHEIM GmbH 19 Sept 1975 [8 Oct 1974] 38524/75 Headings F4U and F4H Scrap tyres are embrittled by contact with a liquefied gas in apparatus comprising an inclined rotary tube through which the tyres pass from the upper charging end 7 to the lower discharge 11, a ring 14 secured to the inner wall of the tube both retarding flow of the tyres to enhance dwell time and to form a dam retaining the liquefied gas which is introduced through orifices 13 in at least one spray pipe 12 positioned above the point where the tyres accumulate.
