Abstract

1384119 Gas discharge lamps VARIAN ASSOCIATES 11 May 1972 [ 14 May 1971] 22060/72 Heading H1D In a short arc discharge lamp an electrode 1 is supported within a coaxial ring 4, 5 by struts 3, the struts being connected to the ring through flaps 6 which accommodate the differential thermal expansion of the ring and the struts when the lamp is in operation. The struts can be held in slots 8 of the flaps 6 or the flaps can be abutted against the struts. Suitable material for the struts is molybdenum and for the ring stainless steel. Specification 1,384,120 is referred to.
