Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit the periphery of the injection pipe of a soot blower to be sealed independently of the change in the outside diameter of the injection pipe by placing around the injection pipe sealing rings each having an inside diameter approximately equal to the smallest diameter of the injection pipe and having been divided into two or more.
CONSTITUTION: In a soot blower which inserts an injection pipe 1 having a changing diameter in and out of a furnace, sealing rings 11aW12b each having an inside diameter approximately equal to the smallest diameter of the injection pipe 1 and having been divided into two or more are placed around the injection pipe 1. When the soot blower is operated, i.e., when the injection pipe 1 is inserted into the furnace, a certain gap S is formed in each of the divided-type sealing rings 11aW12b and a part of the sealed air leaks. However, the operating time of the soot blower is short, and during the operation of the furnace, which needs sealing the most and takes a long period of time, i.e., when the injection pipe 1 is being withdrawn, no gap is formed in the sealing rings 11aW12b. Accordingly, the sealing ability is improved.
