Abstract

1491634 Incorporating stretchable inserts GARCIA CORP 7 Jan 1976 [23 Jan 1975] 548/76 Heading B5A [Also in Division A3] A moulded athletic boot comprises a laminated insert 32, 34, 36 embedded in and encapsulated by the material of the boot. The insert comprises a porous, elastic outer positioning layer 32 of, e.g. stretch nylon which holds woven and non-woven, porous layers 34, 36 respectively, of a polyamide fibre, e.g. nylon, the non-woven layer 36 being thicker than the woven layer 34. In moulding the boot, the laminated insert is stretch fitted over a footshaped last 40, Fig. 6, and the last is encased in mould parts 42, 44 having a bottom entry port 46 and vents 48 to admit pressurized mouldable material, e.g. polyurethane rubber to form the boot 30. The insert is loose on the last and allows the mouldable material to impregnate and encapsulate it. The mould parts 42, 44 may have additional entry ports (not shown).
