Abstract

1491243 Metering granular material E D JOWETT H A C JOWETT and P H JOWETT [trading as MANOR FARM] 21 July 1975 [20 July 1974] 32222/74 Heading B8N A metering apparatus for granular material, e.g. grain or cement, comprises a drum 1 rotatable about a vertical axis 4 and provided with one or more chambers or passageways 6 which are successively filled from an inlet 9 and discharged through an opening 12 whose cross-section is greater than the cross-section of each chamber. A plate 7 closes the lower ends of the chambers and provides the discharge opening. The drum may be rotated continuously or intermittently in dependence on a level sensor at the filling station. The drum is driven by a belt drive 10 from a motor 11 and a counter may be used to indicate the number of drum revolutions and hence the volume discharged.
