Abstract

1491028 Overhead railways LOUIS SCHIERHOLZ KG 23 Dec 1974 [31 Dec 1973] 55368/74 Heading B7L A conveyer for mail bags comprises carriages 2 for mail bags each having two coaxial flanged wheels 27, 28 running on a double track provided by an overhead rail 32, with play S between the rail and each wheel flange 27a, 28a, the wheels and rail being so constructed and having contact surfaces to provide friction such that when a carriage is descending an inclined track section, the flanges 27a, 28a alternately contact the rail to give a braking effect which stabilizes carriage velocity. The lower part of each carriage includes a toggle lever device (not shown) operable by a pusher rod 18 to grip mail bags between a pair of rollers (4), Fig. 1.
