Abstract

1490858 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 13 Dec 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 53974/74 Heading F1A In a fuel injection pump having a pumping piston 8 reciprocable and rotatable by a shaft 2 and a cam drive 3, a second shaft 45 driven at a greater speed than the shaft 2 through gears 52, 54 drives a feedpump 60 for supplying fuel to the pump suction chamber 22 and a centrifugal governor 43 for adjusting the injected fuel quantify. The feedpump is disposed in a recess 58 of the pump housing 1 and is of the rotary vane or gear type provided with a cover 61. A sleeve 28 co-operates with a transverse spill passage 27 in the piston 8 to control the injected quantity, the sleeve being movable by a lever 30 loaded by springs 37, 41 and acted on by the movable output sleeve 47 of the governor. Fuel enters the pumping chamber 11 from the suction chamber 22 through a passage 23 and whichever of grooves 24 is aligned therewith. During the pumping strokes fuel is delivered past a valve 16 and distributed to outlets 20 via passages 14, 17, 18.
