Abstract

149,079. Bather, J., Bather, R., Bather, J. R., and Ballantyne, R. F. May 12, 1919. Mud-guards rotating with wheels.-Apertures are provided between the mud-guards and the wheel to allow the mud to escape radially and prevent its accumulation on the inside of the guard. As applied to mud-guards comprising a flexible apron 3 secured to the side of and spaced from the tyre 2, the apertures 4<x> are provided at the junction between the mud-guard and the tyre. In another construction, the guard is secured to brackets 10 spaced around the wheel rim and provided with inwardly bent ends. The brackets may be bolted to the inner face of the felloe as in Fig. 3, or arranged on the outside of the rim as shown in Fig. 6. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 21148/11, 9480/12, and 27041/13.
