Abstract

1490240 Silicone sealant compositions TEROSON GmbH 24 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 55868/74 Headings C3T and C3P A silicone sealing composition comprises a cross-linkable organopolysiloxane, a crosslinking agent for said siloxane which cures the composition in the presence of moisture, and a polybutylene having a molecular weight below 600, and optionally a non-crosslinkable silicone oil. The preferred crosslinking agent is an acetoxysilane. The weight ratio of silicone oil to polybutylene preferably ranges from 3 : 1 to 1À3. Suitable polybutylenes are poly-nbutylenes, polyisobutylenes or mixtures of polyisobutylene and/or poly-α-n-butylene and/or poly-cis-#-nbutylene and/or poly-trans-#-n-butylene. The compositions are preferably solvent-free. In the examples solvent-free sealant compositions are prepared from a crosslinkable silicone polymer (M.Wt. 50,000), a non-crosslinkable silicone oil (M.Wt. 1000), polybutylene (M.Wt. below 600), pyrogenic silicic acid, an acetoxy silane and either (1) a silane adhesion promoter, or (2) chalk and titanium dioxide.
