Abstract

1490084 Valves CAV Ltd 7 March 1974 [19 March 1974] 12023/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] A pilot valve 17 in a fuel injection system is controlled by a stack of piezo-electric crystals 22 receiving an electric speed error signal. In the arrangement shown the crystal stack is attached to a piston 20 sealed by a diaphragm to form the transmitter of a liquid telemotor, the receiver thereof being formed by the smaller diameter valve spool 17. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the crystal stack 22 acts directly on a valve plunger (30). A mechanical amplifier may increase the plunger movement.
