Abstract
149,003. Agneni, A. March 29, 1919, [Convention date]. Ploughs.-The share of a plough is mounted in a movable support which is driven forward periodically by blows from one or more rotating hammers and is retracted by a spring &c. Fig. 2 is a plan of a plough comprising a double beam, two wheels 2, handles 3, a breast 5, a share 6, a body 7, a landside plate, and two front runners or slades. The share 6 is removably connected to an inclined supporting-member movable in guides 12, 13. It is provided with dovetailed projections fitting into corresponding grooves in the supporting-member, and the edges adjacent to the breast 5 are sharpened. The supporting-member is shaped so as to allow of the escape of soil through it. It terminates in a shank 11 provided with a removable head of hardened metal. A shaft 24 is driven from the axle 15 by the clutch and chain and spur gearing shown. Fixed on the shaft 24 is a split block 25, Fig. 5, carrying the pivoted hammers, which strike the end of the shank 11 as the shaft 24 rotates. The hammers are raised by the engagement of projections 29 with flat surfaces on the block 25. The hammer heads are fitted with removable cones 28 of hardened metal. The share is retracted between the blows by a spring and the forward movement of the plough. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the invention may be applied to multiple-share ploughs, and that the shaft 24 may be driven from a tractor. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
