Rotary and disc tool implements; travelling and propelling gear.-A self-driven rotary plough comprises a driven calotte or hollow-cone shaped rotary tool facing with its hollow side forwardly and outwardly and provided with a few more or less radial knives or times lying within its surface, the arrangement being such that the cut is made by the knives or tines only, the cutting speed is greater than the implement speed, and the knives move from the inward front top of the furrow side to the outward rear bottom in an oblique arch-shaped curve, thus cutting across the furrow slice and helping to propel the implement. The tool cuts, loosens, and turns the furrow slice, and may consist of a dished disc a having projecting teeth a<1> and mounted on a forwardly and upwardly inclined spindle b coupled to a shaft c, which is driven from the motor d through gearing e, a countershaft f, and chain gearing i. The implement is provided with handles m and with travelling wheels driven from the shaft f by chain gearing g. One of these wheels may run in the furrow. A slide k or an inclined wheel may bear against the side of the furrow. Figs. 4 and 5 show star-shaped tools having tine-like arms the ends of which form the cutting parts. Figs. 7 and 8 show conical tools with saw-like and backwardly bent teeth, respectively. A number of tools may be mounted on a common axis or on separate axes. Spefication 116,300 is referred to.
