Ploughs; cultivators. -A subsoil plough, or attachment for a plough or cultivator, comprises a share or blade and a breast or mouldboard with a space or opening between them, the share being adapted for breaking up the subsoil without bringing it to the surface and without displacing it laterally into another furrow, and the mouldboard for breaking up the surface soil and re-depositing it on the disturbed subsoil. The flat share or blade a is adjustably or interchangeably bolted on an extension of a narrow neck c extending downwards from the mouldboard b. The share a is in the form of a parallelogram. It fits against a shoulder and has its leading edge, point, and bottom edge chamfered or sharpened like a chisel. The mouldboard b is shaped to turn the upper soil over and form furrows. In an interchangeable modification, the share is shorter and the mouldboard b is shaped so as to leave the soil level. The neck c is bolted by a single bolt e to the curved foot of a forked standard f adapted to be adjustably secured on a plough beam. Strengthening-ribs on the neck c fit over the standard f, which is connected by a bar It and an adjustable brace o to a second adjustable standard k. In a modification, the upright k is connected directly to the standard f. The bar h may extend beyond the standard k and may be channel-shaped to act as a runner. A landside plate may be provided.
