1489429 Synchronous dynamoelectric machines MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 2 Oct 1974 42842/74 Heading H2A In a synchronous machine, magnetic flux is established in a series of closed magnetic paths defined by a series of axially spaced stator cores 1a, 1b 1c, 1c and a series of axially spaced rotor cores 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, and the spacing of teeth 11 on the stator cores is arranged to be different from the spacing of teeth 31 on the rotor cores so that the stator teeth and rotor teeth face each other directly only at part or parts of the rotor/ stator circumference. In the arrangement shown, the flux is established by ring windings 7a, 7b and 7c, and the magnetic paths are completed by yoke members 4a, 4b, 4c and 9. The teeth 11 of the stator may be evenly spaced as in Fig. 3(a), or grouped as in Fig. 3(b). A winding 2 extending through the cores of the stator may be concentrated or distributed, and single phase or polyphase, as desired. The machine may operate as a low inertia step motor, non-commutator motor or high frequency generator, e.g. in Fig. 4 (not shown) a synchronous motor (100) is energized by a control (200) in accordance with signals from a step-command unit (300) and a position detector (300<SP>1</SP>).
