Abstract

1489159 Safety belt GENERAL MOTORS CORP 3 July 1975 [25 July 1974] 28014/75 Heading A3V A 3 point safety belt arrangement in a motor vehicle comprising a belt strap 2 the two ends of which are anchored at 19, 20 adjacent the rear edge of a door 21 of the vehicle, the strap being divided into a shoulder belt 3 and lap belt 4 by a guide loop 5 having a lock tongue 7 engagable in a belt lock 8 anchored to a portion 10 of the vehicle floor and a suspension device 31 for supporting the lock tongue 7, when the belt is not in use, the device 31 being arranged adjacent the forward edge of the door. The points 19, 20 and device 31 are so spaced that the belt is then tensioned and lies against the door. The anchorage point 19 is secured to the window frame 17 and a bracket (36 Fig. 3 not shown) is stated to engage the anchor plate (39) secured to the frame and attached to the end of belt 3.
