Abstract
1488847 Locating conductors SERVOTRON INSTRUMENTS Ltd 28 Nov 1975 [29 Nov 1974] 51888/74 Heading G1N A method for detecting and locating a conductor carrying time varying currents such as a power system conductor 28 involves effecting relative movement between induction coils 20, 22 and the conductor; amplifying at 32 the induced current; selecting at least one harmonic, say the fifth preferably by use of a band-pass filter 34, of the induced current, which harmonic is rectified 36 and drives a meter 38. The induction coil system 30 is tuned with a fixed capacitor Cl to resonate at the fifth harmonic 250 hertz. In alternative embodiments Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) the induction coil system is a single coil (12), or two coils (14, 16) on a common former (18) and connected series-aiding.
