Abstract

1488675 Air jet conveyers MOTCH & MERRYWEATHER MACHINERY CO 20 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 41166/74 Heading B8A An air jet conveyer comprises a deck plate 12 provided with slots 16 to emit directional jets of air and a "tunnel" member providing an imperforate wall in opposition to the slots to define a conveying zone. The "tunnel" member 30 is shaped such as to provide an air gap on each side of an article being conveyed and is slightly spaced from the deck plate to provide a release for excess air. The conveyer may be oriented vertically for lifting articles. Pressurized air enters plenum chamber 17 from fan 24 and exits through slots 16 arranged in rows 15 to form jets whose major flow component is upwards along the deck surface.
