Abstract

1488453 Cups; dishes &c CONLOR MOLDING SYSTEMS Ltd 15 June 1976 [10 June 1975] 24737/75 Heading A4A [Also in Divisions B5 and B8] To facilitate the injection moulding of thin walled containers and lids having a continuous bottom wall 8 and a continuous side wall 12, the bottom wall has a plurality of trunk ribs 9, 38 radiating from an injection point 10, 36 in the bottom wall at equal angles 13 to each other, each trunk rib lying along a line of shortest distance to the periphery of the article and having opposing pairs of ribs 14, 13 branching off at equal distances along its length, and each branch rib lying along a line parallel to the adjacent trunk rib 9 on the same side and intersecting branch ribs of the adjacent trunk rib 9 to form a lattice of ribs bounding rhomboidal wall segments 18, 19 of uniform size and shape. Injection of a circular lid, Figs. 2 and 3 is through a central point 10 and of a tray or box, Fig. 10, is through two or more points 36, a dividing rib 37 being provided midway between the injection points. The ribs or the wall may taper away from the injection point. The ribs may be of circular or triangular cross-section. Annular ribs may be provided midway through the lattice (not shown), and a peripheral area without ribs may be provided around the bottom wall.
