148,768. Cumming, W. W., (Assignee of Fischmann, M.). Feb. 15, 1915, [Convention date]. Mattresses.-The primary springs 1 of a spring mattress are reinforced by shorter secondary springs 6 which come into action after the primary springs have been considerably compressed. The springs are enclosed in individual pockets 7 which may hold the springs in a state of partial compression, and which prevent contact between the springs 1 and 6. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the springs may be arranged as shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in which case the secondary springs do not have separate pockets, while rubber pads may be used as the secondary spring members. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
