1487599 Heat transfer sheets BEMROSE SPONDON Ltd 1 Aug 1975 [29 Oct 1974] 46820/74 Heading B6C [Also in Division D1] A transfer sheet suitable for heat transfer includes a coating of starch or starch-based material under or over a transfer layer containing a vapour-phase transfer dye. The support of the sheet is generally paper or plastics, and the starch coating may include a film-forming additive, e.g. hydroxyethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyaerylate, butadiene-acrylonitrile, oxidized potato starch or a galacto mannano, and an alginate to reduce pin-holing. The starch coating contains 1 to 10% by weight dry solids and is applied at a rate of 1À5 to 6 g. per square metre. If the starch is applied over the transfer layer it may confer improved anti-set-off properties.
