Abstract

1487401 Moving band filter W P HEMY 15 Oct 1975 [17 July 1974] 31596/74 Heading BID A filter band 28 is fed from a roll 40 by rollers 44 across a perforate plate 18 which forms the roof of a shallow filtrate chamber 14 connected to a suction pump '22. During filtering a cover 20 is held in a lower position to clamp a section of band 28 against the rim of lower plate 12. Cover 20 is connected by pipe 26 to tank 24 containing liquid to be filtered, so that filtration is effected solely by pump 22, which delivers filtrate to another tank (not shown). Air vent 32 opens automatically in response to an excessive pressure drop across band 28 to break the suction, and after a time during which air is drawn through the filter cake pump 22 stops, pneumatic ram 38 raises cover 20 and motordriven rollers 44 advance band 28 and the filter cake thereon. The cover is lowered on to a clean section of band and the cycle repeated. Plate 18 is supported on studs 16 on lower plate 12 to form chamber 14.
