Abstract

1487268 Lubricating TELEHOIST Ltd 25 Feb 1976 [27 Feb 1975] 8147/75 Heading F2A A lubricant consists of grease carried in a volatile liquid. The grease and liquid may be miscible or the grease may be in colloidal form. The lubricant may be a viscous grease dissolved in a volatile organic solvent (which may be up to 80% of the lubricating fluid) so that the lubricant may be handled in a lubricating system like an ordinary lubricating oil, the volatile liquid evaporating when the lubricant is applied to a bearing, leaving the grease on the bearing. Suitable solvents are hydrocarbons or halogenated hydrocarbons. A stabilizing agent may be used to prevent separation of the grease and liquid and the lubricant may be agitated in its reservoir. As described, the lubricant is fed from a reservoir 10 to bearings 18 via meters 15 by a pump 11. The pump may be controlled by a timer so that it functions periodically.
