Abstract

Binding-posts and terminals.-A terminal connexion for a conductor d comprises a binding- screw b and a hole c for the conductor at rightangles to the axis of the screw, the hole being tangential to and partially penetrating a recess provided in the terminal a to receive the head of the screw. The head of the screw and the recess are preferably of conical form in order to produce a wedging action when the screw is screwed down on to the conductor, this action serving both. to secure the conductor and to lock the screw. In the form shown in Figs. 4, 5, the recess is provided with a channel e into which the conductor is forced when the screw is screwed home, and the terminal portion is provided with a downwardly-extending slot through which the conductor may be inserted into the tangential passage. In this form, the recess is provided with an upper cylindrical guiding-portion, the head of the screw being formed with a corresponding cylindrical portion. Several tangential passages may be provided for the purpose of securing several conductors by a single screw.
