Abstract

Supporting.-In a lamp holder, Fig. 1, having an electro-magnet with pole-pieces 10 projecting transversely to the axis of the lamp, for attachment to a magnetic body, the pole-pieces are recessed, as shown in Fig. 3, so as to fit a curved surface. The pole-pieces may be of different length so that the axis of the lamp is inclined to the surface. The casing 14 may be bent from sheet metal, the edges being joined .by a clip 15. The casing has an end-plate 2 to which the flexible leads are clamped, and an endplate 1 to which the socket 17 is secured by a recessed plate 4a which may carry a lamp-guard 4. A switch 12 is provided to short-circuit the electro-magnet to allow withdrawal from the surface. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, there are two pole-pieces at each end, connected to segmental cores 11.
