Abstract

1485773 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems MANNESMANN AG 14 Nov 1974 [16 Nov 1973] 49331/74 Heading G3P [Also in Division F2] In a bearing assembly for a shaft 1 having a thrust flange 2, a support ring 4, 5 is provided on each axial side of the flange and pressure chambers 6 are formed in the support rings in which pistons 7 carrying bearing blocks 3 which engage the flange are located. Fluid under pressure is supplied to the pressure chambers to load the bearing blocks against the flange, and means are provided for sensing any axial movement of the flange so that the pressure supplied may be varied to restore the position of the flange. Movement of the flange 2 is sensed by sensors 11 which activate, via a relay 12, a control valve 13 which causes an increased supply of pressurized fluid to the chambers on one side of the flange to cause the shaft to return to its initial position.
