1485577 Distillation apparatus REKTORAT SLOVENSKEJ VYSOKEJ SKOLY TECHNICKEJ 5 Jan 1976 [4 Oct 1975] 40742/75 Heading BIB A thin film multistage evaporator comprising a single evaporator body comprising a vertical inner shell I having an external heating surface and an outer shell surrounding the inner shell to define a space there between which is divided into successive working chambers 2, 3, 4, by gas tight means 11 and 20. A rotatable film wiper 10, 19, 20 wipes the exterior surface of the inner shell. The wiper and the seals form a single driven unit (e.g. rotated by motor 6) about the heated surface. In the embodiment of Fig. I vapour passes through condenser surfaces 55, 56 and condenses on cooling jackets 37, 41, 45 and condensate is led away through tubes 39, 42, 35 vacuum being applied through tubes 40, 41. Heating tubes 46, 47, and 48 supply heat to the three stages which are maintained at 10<SP>-1</SP>, 10<SP>-2</SP> and 10<SP>-3</SP> Torr respectively. Liquid to be evaporated is fed at 54 travels downwardly and is removed at 34.
