148,513. Bernaudin, M. H. March 26, 1919, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Cylinder machines; gripper mechanism. - An oseillating-cylinder printing-machine is provided with means by which the sheets are printed on one side during the forward movement of the cylinder and on the other side during the backward movement. The sheet is taken from the feed board b by grippers f on the cylinder a, and after being printed on one side is taken by a gripper cylinder d and deposited printed side up on a second feed board c. On the return movement of the cylinder a the sheet is taken by grippers g and its reverse side printed, after which the sheet is delivered by a stripper i<1>, guide i<6>, roller i'. guide i<8>, and band i<9>. The grippers g are mounted on a block g<1> adjustable circumferentially of the cylinder to suit sheets of different size. The block g<1> also carries the winding roller g<3> of the impression blanket. The grippers g and f and the grippers d' of the cylinder d are actuated in the usual manner. Rollers d<2> coact with the cylinder d to forward the sheet after the grippers d<1> are opened, and the sheet is stripped from the cylinder d 'by a flyer d<6> and is fed down the feed board c by bands c<1> driven intermittingly by rollers d<3> carried by a lever d<4> operated by a cam d<5> on the cylinder a. The feed board c is curved to provide space beneath for inking-apparatus for inking the forme on its return stroke. The delivery stripper i<1> is actuated by a lever i' operated by a cam groove g' in the gripper block g<1>.
