Abstract

1484738 Sawing G STORTI 25 Jan 1975 3327/75 Heading B5L A machine for automatically trimming the edges of lengths 1 of timber having an upper face of less width than the lower face, comprises a roller feed track 2 for conveying the length 1 to an end stop 4, an hydraulically or pneumatically operated push plate 5 for transversely displacing and positioning the length 1, the plate 5 having two spaced studs 7 adapted to engage an edge of the length adjacent its upper face and feed means 8 for feeding the transversely positioned length past a circular or band saw 14. The push plate 5 and its operating cylinders 6 are mounted on a vertically adjustable support 15 to accommodate different thicknesses of timber. The feed discs 11 are knurled and mounted on a pivotally supported structure 8, 9 operable by means of an hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder 10 to press the discs 11 against a length to be trimmed.
