Abstract
1483823 Surface treatment of polymers HOCHVAKUUM DRESDEN VEB 31 Dec 1974 [15 Feb 1974] 56151/74 Heading C3P The surface treatment of non-polar polymeric materials to increase adhesion properties is effected by bombardment with atomic or molecular ions with energies of 0À1-10 Kev. under reduced pressure conditions, e.g. of 10<SP>-1</SP> to 10<SP>-6</SP> torr. The treatment may be effected in a high-frequency plasma atomization apparatus with the material connected as the target elect or in an ion beam atomization apparatus. The material may be inclined such that the angle of incidence of the ions is 10-90 degrees. The ions used may be derived from argon, crypton, oxygen, halogen or halides. The treatment of PTFE is exemplified.
