Abstract

1483069 Fluid pressure brakes S SHIBER and R H HUSTED 31 July 1974 [14 May 1974] 33875/74 Heading F2F A brake valve for providing right and left pressure outputs in response to right or left driver's force input as for example in an agricultural tractor having separate braking to assist steering comprises a yoke 22 with a pivot connection 23 to a shaft 19 inserted into a housing 11 which has a variable volume chamber 49 in the form of a piston 15 and cylinder 14, a right valve assembly 33 for blocking control pressure from the right input port 63 in response to a force exerted by the yoke and a left valve assembly 34 for similarly blocking the control pressure from the left output port 64 in response to forces provided via the yoke which also exerts a force on the right valve assembly when the force at the right force input point is substantially smaller than that at the left force input point or exerts a force on the left valve assembly when the force at the left force input point is substantially smaller than that at the right force input point. Venting assemblies 81, 82 are used to prevent a pressure from prevailing in the ports 63, 64 respectively while the port is being blocked from chamber 49. A reaction piston 31 is attached to shaft 19 and movement of piston 15 is damped by means of a damper chamber 69 and annular piston 68.
