1482992 Nuclear reactors PACIFIC NUCLEAR FUELS Inc 22 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 11567/77 Divided out of 1482991 Heading G6C The subject matter of this Specification is identical with that described in Parent Specification, but the claims relate to a method of operating a light water nuclear reactor using fissile uranium and fertile thorium at a power output of about 7 kW (thermal) per foot of driver fuel rod, removing and replacing some of the fuel after about one year, and then continuing operation for 2-3 years. The average U232 content of the U233 formed by irradiation of the thorium does not exceed 10 p.p.m.
