Abstract

1482946 Weft patterning, shuttleless looms MASCHINENFABRIK RUTI AG 9 Aug 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 35282/74 Heading DIE For the purpose of weft patterning a single weft yarn is dyed different colours along its length. In Figure 1 dyebaths A, B, C with reciprocable presser rollers 27, 31, 32 are selectively operated so that the roller 27 presses the weft yarn onto the dye roller 24 and the rollers 31, 32 lift the yarn clear of preceeding and succeeding dye rollers. A heat setting chamber 36 is provided. In Figure 4 spray nozzles 63 of dye stations A, B, C are selectively operated to coloun the yarn which may be electrostatically charged to assist penetration. In Figure 6 the yarn is selectively brought into contact with either of two dye rollers 87, 88. The dye may also be applied by sublimation, the dye may be rolled on in the manner of a ball point pen or be applied by pressing the yarn against impregnated ribbons. In a jet loom a suction storage chamber may assist drying. A pattern device (Figure 2, not shown) is provided for selecting the required dyebath &c and the pattern may also control the shafts.
