Abstract

1482752 Television COLOUR FILM SERVICES Ltd and R J VENIS 30 April 1975 [30 Jan 1974] 04299/74 Heading H4F In order to facilitate cine recording of a sequence of television images at the standard television picture rate the frame interval of each picture period is compressed to increase the duration of the frame blanking interval so that standard cine camera "pull down" mechanisms may be employed. The conventional television signal is A-D converted 1 and applied to field stores A and B alternately by a switch 2 operated at the field frequency by a signal extracted from the video signal by separator 3. The field stores are emptied line alternately, at a faster rate than the input rate, via output switch 4 thereby eliminating interlacing. A colour decoder resolves the digital signal into its constituent colour components which are individually D-A converted 6 to 8 for output to, e.g. CRTs or laser beams display viewed by a cine camera operating synchronously therewith.
