Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a picture of high quality whether motions are large or small, by changing the operation states of picture tubes over to the two-beam and one- beam modes corresponding to the still mode and motion mode, by detecting still- mode and motion-mode switching signals superposed as codes VIC in a vertical synchronizing blanking period.
CONSTITUTION: The system is provided with VIC signal detector 1 which detects a VIC signal to be superposed upon the vertical blanking interval part of TV video signal (a); when the detection output of this detector 1 is generated, it is applied to blanking mixer 8 to change it into a blanking interval part and at the same time, the detection output is applied to brightness and contrast control circuit 13, where the brightness and contrast of the screen driven by the electron-gun beam B are made identical with those of a simultaneous drive by both beams of electron guns A and B. Further, a video signal is applied to mixer 8 by way of clamping circuit 2, single-field delay line 6, and 1/2-delay line 7 so as to operate brightness and contrast control circuit 12 for the required time, thereby operating electron gun A. Then, the operation states of electron guns A and B are changed over corresponding to the motion mode and still mode.
