Abstract

1,183,485. Recording television pictures. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORP. 10 April, 1968 [10 May, 1967], No. 21680/67. Heading H4F. The specification describes a method of recording television pictures on intermittently moving film wherein alternate fields 2, 4 &c. (see video signals in Fig.) are displayed on a first display screen A, the fields are delayed by a time T less than a field period and those delayed fields 1<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> &c. not displayed on display screen A are displayed on a second display screen B. The two display screens are photographed on the intermittently moving film, the movement of the film taking place during the interval T + t when no field is being displayed. Thus the film rate is 25 frames per second for a television frequency of 50 fields per second and the "pull down" time is extended. To take up no more than one film frame the two displays must be exactly aligned to form an interlaced picture, possibly by means of a prism module.
