Abstract
1482301 Fluorescent discharge lamps PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Jan 1975 [8 Jan 1974] 195/75 Heading H1D [Also in Division C4] A low pressure Hg vapour discharge lamp giving good colour rendering and low activity towards photolithographic resists comprises a conventional glass tube 1 with end electrodes 2, 3, with inside the glass a first coating 5 absorbing U.V. and blue including at least 70% absorption of the 436 nm Hg line, while passing at least 70% of wavelengths of 480 nm upward, and superimposed inside the first coating a fluorescent layer 4 including a mixture of at least three phosphors, of which a first red emitter is activated by Eu<SP>+++</SP> and comprises vanadates, phospho-vanadates or phospho-broro-vanadates of Y, Gd, La, or oxysulphides or oxyhalides of Y or La or oxides of Y, Gd, La, Lu; a second green emitter activated by Tb, possibly with added Na, comprising alkali earth tungstate or Cl or Cl-Mg aluminate, e.g. Cl 0À70 Tb 0À30 Mg Al 11 O 19 ; and a third emitter comprising alkali earth disilicates activated by Eu<SP>++</SP> or alkali earth aluminates or Mg-Aluminates with hexagonal ferrite structure and activated by Eu<SP>++</SP> possibly with Mn<SP>++</SP>. The absorbing outer layer 5 may comprise known Ni titanate (TiO 2 , NiO plus Sb 2 O 5 ) or Mn activated Mg arsenate or germanate mixed with TiO 2 . White inert pigment, e.g. BaSO 4 may be added to control absorption.
