Abstract

1482243 Developing electrostatic images XEROX CORP 9 May 1975 [21 June 1974 (2)] 19550/75 Heading G2H Photo-conductive belt 20 is tensioned around a plurality of rollers, of which 41 is one, and is held during development by a spring-mounted flatsurfaced platen 126, which is biased against the inner side of the belt. The platen may incorporate a vacuum hold-down, which steadies the belt during development by magnetic brushes 29. Locating stops 241 position the platen and developing apparatus 27 relative to one another, so that movement of the platen is accompanied by corresponding movement of the developing apparatus. The belt and platen are part of a module removable from the copier of which they are part, and the developing apparatus can be moved out of position for servicing. Movement of the platen and developing apparatus provides a tolerance of movement or displacement during replacement of the belt module.
