Abstract
1482168 Hollow molds for floors and ceilings ATEX BUILDING PRODUCTS Ltd 22 Dec 1975 [23 Dec 1974] 55458/74 Heading E1S A hollow mould for use in constructing horizontal concrete surfaces is a substantially rectangular hat-shaped plastics member with a crown leading to four side-walls, each, in turn, leading into an outwardly directed flange, wherein at least two opposite flanges and side-walls of the mould are of convex, outwardly curved shape when in unstressed condition and are intended and adapted to be resiliently deformed inwardly when subjected to stress due to mechanical force applied to preload the mould. The crown 50 (Fig. 6) is preferably convex upwardly and deformable downwardly when stressed by the weight of concrete. Also claimed is a method of constructing a horizontal concrete surface wherein a plurality of moulds as defined above 1 (Fig. 1) are disposed in abutting relationship in rows on supports 5, mechanical force is exerted longitudinally to preload the moulds (Fig. 3), concrete is cast on the resulting surface, and the moulds and supports are removed after the concrete has set.
