1481796 Golf club LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 Aug 1974 [1 Sept 1973] 41242/73 Heading A6D [Also in Division C7] A golf club is characterised in that a wooden head 11 contains an insert 15 formed either of a hot pressed silicon nitride or a hot pressed silicon metal oxynitride: examples of the metal are aluminium and lithium. The insert is contained in a planar striking face 12 via a recess 13 which is shaped complementary with the insert and tapered on two senses; the one-together with a clamping plate 14- preventing movement of the insert parallel to the face, and the other preventing relative movement of the insert normal to the face.
