Abstract
1481747 Electromagnets SINGER CO 9 Oct 1975 [22 Nov 1974] 41373/75 Heading H1P A solenoid bobbin 10 has a rectangular central bore 12 with core guide channels 14 projecting from one end having flanges 16, of which a corner is cut out at 18. End flanges limit the wiring, and the larger flange is widened, thickened and slotted to receive terminals 28, the slots being inwardly tapered to receive flat terminals forced in. Wire 34 is wound on the bobbin (Fig. 5) and the terminals pressed in from outside; after which the wire ends are looped through the slots 32 (Fig. 6) and soldered. A two part mould is clamped on the end flange of the bobbin and encapsulent is injected to cover the winding and lock to the flanges (Fig. 11), while the portion adjacent the terminals is moulded into an inclined outer surface 38 enclosing and locking the terminals on the inside. Laminated core 42 comprises a stack 44 reinforced by sidepieces 46 bent inwardly to a securing point at 46 and grooved at 48 to receive a core stop tang (Fig. 13). In the complete assembly (Fig. 14) a C frame 50 retains the assembly. A projection 52 of the laminations fits into the coil bobbin to centre its end relative to the frame, and shading coils 54 are fitted to axially extend the field, after which kiokout springs are positioned in the assembly to bias the core outwardly of the coil. Then the core is inserted and coil stop bracket members 58 are riveted into place, formed to provide a channel portion 60 co-operating to reinforce the plastic core guide with a tang 62 engaging the cut out corners 18. Members 58 retain the coil relative to the frame while limiting outward movement of the core. The guides may be tubular.
