Abstract

1481723 Mounting brake actuators RUBERY OWEN ROCKWELL Ltd 6 Aug 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 34507/74 Heading F2E The orientation of a brake actuator 2 with respect to a vehicle axle housing 1 is adjustable to assist in aligning the actuator connecting rod with the hole or the selected one of a plurality of holes in the brake operating lever 4 to which it is to be connected. This is achieved by using a mounting bracket 3 which, as shown in Fig. 1, has a base 9 extending parallel to the axis of the axle and formed with a central aperture 16, through which connecting rod 7 extends, a hole 17 on one side of the aperture and a plurality of holes 18-20 on the other side of the aperture arranged on an arc centred on hole 17. Actuator 2 is secured to the bracket by bolts 26 extending through hole 17 and one of holes 18-20 to give alternative connecting rod centre lines 31-33. A substantially corresponding arrangement of holes 22, 23, 24 is provided for use with a smaller actuator. The side walls 8 of the bracket have arcuate cut-outs 11, 13 both conforming to the axle housing but arranged differently to provide alternative orientations of the bracket relative to the axle housing so as to accommodate connecting rods of different lengths.
