Abstract

1481450 Laminated building panel J W ELISCHER 31 Dec 1974 [23 Jan 1974] 56121/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division E1] A faced building panel comprises a core 12, e.g. of foamed concrete or of concrete formed with lightweight aggregate such as polystyrene foam beads, having a facing sheet 11 fixed to each opposed face thereof, each facing sheet being of greater tensile and flexural strength than the core, e.g. of asbestos cement sheet, the panel being suitable for assembling, in use, with identical panels in abutting end to end relationship to form for example a wall, the panel having an end of the core projecting a shoft distance beyond the corresponding ends of the facing sheets and a groove 13 being formed in the core adjacent the corresponding end of one of the facing sheets, extending the full length of the end and exposing the core so that when two panels are assembled in abutting end to end relationship the grooves combine to define a keyway into which a suitable mastic or an extruded plastics sealing member may be placed. In the embodiment shown, two such grooves are provided as is a central recess 14 adapted to fit around a correspondingly shaped loose tongue.
