Abstract

1480861 Filtration hood E D I ELECTRODOMESTIQUE INDUSTRIEL 16 June 1975 [17 June 1974] 25513/75 Heading BIT [Also in Division F4] A filtration hood, for mounting over a kitchen stove, comprises a fan 4 which draws air through a section of filter material 5 and a pressure or vacuum switch 8, which monitors the degree of clogging of the filter section and either replaces it automatically or actuates a visual or audible signal so that the user may replace it manually, when a predetermined degree of clogging is achieved. As shown the filter material is a roll of paper, plastic, metal or woven or non-woven fabric fed from a roll 11 and wound up when soiled on to roll 10 by motor 9. The switch 8 could be located elsewhere, e.g. downstream of the fan, and is calibrated by replacing the filter by a standard filter or other device producing a pressure drop corresponding to the clogged filter. Fan 4 can discharge filtered air back into the kitchen by outlet (7) or outside through a flue (12), Fig. 1 not shown. Instead of a movable filter band, a filter plate or cartridge could be manually changed when clogged.
