Abstract

1480323 Etching PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Jan 1976 [9 Jan 1975] 00328/76 Heading B6J A method of etching apertures in a metal foil comprises covering each side of the foil with an etchant-resistant layer, such as fish-glue, having a pattern of apertures, covering one side of the foil with a continuous covering layer of a waxy hydrocarbon, treating the other side of the foil with an etchant to form cavities therein removing the covering layer with perchloroethylene, and treating the first side of the foil with an etchant to form cavities therein, the two sets of cavities forming a set of apertures through the foil. The resistant layers are then removed with sodium hydroxide solution.
