Abstract
1479052 Copper-alkanolamine complexes KOCIDE CHEMICAL CORP and SANDOZ Inc 13 Sept 1974 [13 Sept 1973] 39995/75 Heading C2C New complexes having utility as algaecides and as aquatic weed herbicides are those of (a) a C 2-10 alkonolamine, especially one of formula where R 1 is C 2-10 hydroxyalkyl and each of R 2 and R 3 is hydrogen, C 1-8 alkyl, C 2-8 hydroxyalkyl or C 1-8 amino alkyl and (h) upper (II) hydroxide or a copper (II) basic salt, e.g. the basic choride, sulphate or carbonate. The compounds are made by reacting the alkanolamine with the copper compound in liqueous medium at 20-80 C. and at a pH above 8.5. The complexes may be isolated from the aqueous medium and heated at 100-130 C. to yield a dehydrated form of the complex.
