Abstract

1478966 Swimming pools ELCON Mfg CO Ltd 11 June 1974 [13 June 1973] 30467/73 Heading A4N [Also in Division E1] A swimming pool wall is made of rectangular plastics panels 12 each having a first major face 12a forming the pool's inner surface and a ribbed second major surface, the panels being interconnected by a key 20 along one edge engaged in a complementarily shaped groove 16 along the opposite edge of an adjacent panel, the key and groove each being spaced rearwardly of the panel's major faces and the key being located on a projection 21 having a surface 21a inclined at an acute angle to the panel. The plastics panels have a foamed interior of lower density than their outer surface. The top and bottom edges of the panels are respectively located in channels of a top member 28 and a similar bottom member. Buttresses 58 have undercut channels 24a embracing the tongues 24 formed by the joint between adjacent panels. Plugs 68 at the top and bottom of the buttresses have arrow-head sectioned ribs 74 engaged in undercut channels 38 in the top and bottom members 28. A reinforcement bar 80 in a channel 50 may be located in the channels 38, the bar having a groove 82 to receive the ribs 74. Alternatively, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), the plugs 68 may be T-sectioned with the stem engaged in an aperture in the top of the buttress 58 and the crosspieces engaging in apertures in the ends of adjacent top members 28. A coping 56 is clipped to the top member.
