Abstract

1478938 Open end spinning ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN GmbH 5 May 1975 [4 May 1974] 18821/75 Heading DID An open end spinning device is operated so that the proportion of real twist inserted by the rotor and false twist inserted by a withdrawal/drafting tube results in a finished yarn with a twist which is substantially constant over the cross section of the yarn. The control of the device is performed by delivering fibres into the fibre collecting groove of a spinning rotor, drafting the yarn formed from the fibres in the interior of the rotor through the yarn withdrawal/drafting tube by means of a pair of driven yarn drafting rollers, controlling the real twist imparted to the yarn by controlling the rotational speed of the spinning rotor and the yarn delivery speed, and controlling the false twist imparted to the yarn by use of a yarn withdrawal/drafting tube having desired internal dimensions and coefficient of friction between its internal surface and the yarn. The open end spinning device may be operated so that the total twist in the yarn structure disposed upstream of the yarn drafting tube is propagated substantially to the position at which the fibre structure lifts of the fibre collecting groove. The false twist may be varied by the construction of the yarn withdrawal/drafting tube and-by allowing the tube to freely rotate, or by braking it by eddy current brakes, or by means of belt drive. The total amount of twist in the fibre structure upstream of the yarn withdrawal/drafting tube may be controlled independently of the twist of the yarn downstream of the pair of drafting rollers.
