Abstract

1478654 Workpiece clamping JAKOB WALLENHAUPT WERKMITTEL KG 10 June 1974 [9 June 1973] 25606/74 Heading B3B A clamping arrangement, e.g. for clamping a cam 9 to a T-grooved machining table, comprises a block 1 having a bore 12 for receiving a clamping screw 13 which is inclined at a compound angle (angles # and γ), two longitudinal faces 1a, 1b defining a width of the block less than the gap between the shoulders of the T-grooves, a head piece 7 against which the cam 9 can locate on an upper surface 2a, and a pair of mutually parallel faces 5a, 5b, which, when the block 1 is rotated in the T-groove, act as stops against the sides of the T-groove, the arrangement being such that the block 1 is inserted into a T-groove by being passed between the shoulders 4c, 4d of a T-groove and is then rotated until the faces 5a, 5b engage the sides of the T-groove so that parts of the upper surface 2a adjacent the faces 5a, 5b engage beneath the shoulders 4c, 4d to allow clamping of the cam 9. The parts of the upper surface 2a which engage the shoulders 4c, 4d are provided by edge recesses which form coplanar contact surfaces 22a, 22b so that the block is rotatably oriented about its longitudinal axis. The cams 9 may be part of a programme control which can be reset, with the use of the present clamping arrangement, without having to slide a block along the complete length of a T-groove before it can be removed.
